Floor Maintenance

Dos:

  • Recoat your hardwood floors before you wear any spot through to bare wood.

  • Use protective felt or soft pads on the bottom of all furniture and replace them regularly.

  • Place rugs and mats at all exterior entrances to capture abrasives and moisture.

  • Use stands under plants to allow air circulation; even a waterproof plant containers can attract condensation and leave a water stain.

  • Vacuum or dry dust-mop regularly to remove abrasives and dirt. 

  • Use a cleaner specifically designed for hardwood floors and mop floors as needed.

  • Wipe up spills immediately to avoid water damage to floors.

  • Try to make it a habit to remove shoes when walking on your floors. The use of high heeled shoes and cleats can dent even the most dense hardwood floors.

Don'ts:

  • Do not use oils, polish, or waxes.

  • Do not use abrasive cleaners.

  • Do not steam mop your floors

  • Do not drag any piece of furniture on your floors; always carry it.
